The Colts released news this morning that Jordan Hemby suffered a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills. This injury will cause Hemby to miss the 2010 season. Hemby was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina, signed in April of this year.
Five Things I Think I Know: Perfect Painter Edition

The second preseason game is in the books, which featured a so-so performance from all units. While some areas improved, others regressed.
1.) I think we get too worked up over player performance in the preseason. Too often, we are quick to berate players when they have a bad game, and too often we are quick to praise them when they light the world on fire. Fans should hold off on their judgments until all preseason games are over, when they can make a final assessment. You just never know how a player will look week to week. Curtis Painter and Taj Smith looked like two of the first roster cuts last week and this week they looked like Manning to Harrison reincarnated. Blair White looked like a breakthrough player last Sunday but did not have a single catch this week.
We are looking for consistency from these players. If they can show they are able to put up respectable performances week in and week out, that is when we can determine whether they belong on the roster or not.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter just reported what many of us feared yesterday: Colts backup safety and special teams standout Jamie Silva tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2010 season.
Update: It is being reported by that the sign DB Terrell Skinner, waive/injured Jamie Silva and Donye’ McCleskey.
It isn’t really a surprise that Silva was waived however few thought McCleskey would be gone so fast.

Here are a few things that really stuck out during the Colts first pre-season game against the San Fransisco 49ers:
-Peyton Manning is in mid-season form. A shock, I know, but his footwork was beautiful, his patience was there, and he was seeing the field well. Timing and rhythm seemed good with everyone, as well.
-Joseph Addai looked really good. His shifty run after the catch, his beautiful touchdown run, and his pass blocking were all what I expect from Addai. I’m worried about his long term health, as this line isn’t going to give him a lot of easy runs, and he’s going to be taking on a lot of pass rushers this year, but I was impressed with him.

A Day at Colts Training Camp
Aug 14th

After leaving my Lafayette apartment, getting stuck in line for gas, hitting two separate construction zones, discovering that parking rates had doubled, and having temperatures over 85 degrees at 9:00 in the morning, you’d think that my day was going poorly. That’s what I thought at the time, but I had a bright spot that erased all of those negatives. I, Jacob Crocker, found myself standing on the edge of Anderson University, just a short walk from the Colt’s Training Camp, and my first good look at the 2010 Colts.
Whether it was my lack of belief in superstitions, or just my overwhelming joy to see the Colts in action, I was determined to not let this Friday the 13th turn horribly sour on me. I was there to review how the team was coming together, and see who was having a good showing, and even the start to my day wasn’t going to dampen my spirits.
What follows from here is my story. It tells how the camp was, the kind of people who were there, and the atmosphere during practice (heads up, it was balmy). Be prepared, though, because this is by no means a short tale (I wasn’t going to pay another parking fee after they doubled the price!). Luckily, the downtime allowed me to get acquainted with fans from near and far (literally), and further spice up the day. So without further ado, here is the story of my day at the Colts Training Camp… More >
