A Fan Salute to the 2010 Indianapolis Colts
Jan 5th
With a win against the Titans, the Colts managed to overcome unprecedented team injuries and their worst five game series since 2002 for a NFL record (tie) ninth consecutive playoff berth, and their seventh AFC South Championship in the last eight years. Peyton Manning was able to get through his toughest stretch of games since his rookie year and somehow Indy has managed to enter January with the three seed in the AFC.
It is extremely important for Colts fans to step back and think about the gravity of this accomplishment. Frankly, this team had no business overcoming all of the adversity it has faced in a sixteen game season. More >

Defensive Tackle Mitch King, Running Back Brandon Minor Added to Practice Squad
Oct 7th
No comments
With all the Colts roster moves recently, one of the most surprising decisions was the release of defensive tackle Mitch King. Although King’s role in the defense started to decline in recent weeks, he started the season on the active roster and the Colts rarely put active players down to the practice squad once they conclude they are good enough to play a role in games on Sundays.
Tom James of CBS Rapid Reports indicates that Mitch King and running back Brandon Minor were added to the practice squad. Minor played collegiately at Michigan and is the biggest running back on the roster at 6-foot 1-inches and 216 pounds. The move to push King down to the practice quad but retain Ricardo Mathews suggests that either King has disappointed the Colts front office, or that Ricardo Mathews has showed further development from his impressive play in the Colts season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Role of Defensive Tackles in the Colts Defense
Sep 23rd
One position that has undergone a great deal of development in Indianapolis is the defensive tackle position. In 2007 and 2008 the Colts had the smallest defensive tackle rotation in the NFL. By the smallest, it was not just a little smaller, it was 50 or more pounds lighter than the second lightest defensive tackle group in the league.
The 2009 season saw that change. While the Colts may still field the lightest defensive tackles in the NFL, the difference between Antonio Johnson, Daniel Muir, Fili Moala, Mitch King, and Eric Foster from the rest of the league is closer than the Colts have been since the 2005 and 2006 seasons, when players like Booger McFarland and Corey Simon were on the roster.

Now that’s more like the Colts. Last Sunday night, all three units made amends for a lackluster performance against the Houston Texans. There were improvements to areas fans did not think possible and the errors (for the most part) were cleaned up.
1.) I think the Colts need to stay committed to the running game. When I say committed, I do not mean handing it off 43 times a game like the Colts did on Sunday, but balance the offense out. An average of around 20-30 times being split by Addai and Brown seems more feasible. By running the ball, the Colts accomplished three things as I had mentioned previously: They slowed down the Giants pass rush (Peyton Manning was not hit nearly as much as in the Texans game), opened up play-action passes (the touchdown to Dallas Clark), and kept the defense fresh (the pass rush was consistent all night). Mixing the run with the pass will benefit all three phases of the game.
