A Fan Salute to the 2010 Indianapolis Colts
Jan 5th
With a win against the Titans, the Colts managed to overcome unprecedented team injuries and their worst five game series since 2002 for a NFL record (tie) ninth consecutive playoff berth, and their seventh AFC South Championship in the last eight years. Peyton Manning was able to get through his toughest stretch of games since his rookie year and somehow Indy has managed to enter January with the three seed in the AFC.
It is extremely important for Colts fans to step back and think about the gravity of this accomplishment. Frankly, this team had no business overcoming all of the adversity it has faced in a sixteen game season. More >
Why the Colts have Struggled in 2010
Dec 12th
Colts fans have watched in horror as a team that entered the season as one of the most talented groups Indianapolis has put together in quarterback Peyton Manning’s career has fallen into mediocrity and failed to continue an NFL record streak of consecutive 12-win seasons. Many expected the stretch of games against the Eagles, Patriots, Chargers, and Cowboys would be difficult, but dropping all four games is not something Colts teams have done in the past.
This uncharacteristic run of losses has understandably caused Colts fans to panic. The blame game is in full force, and fans are scrambling to find answers to resolve the issues in Indianapolis before the 2011 season begins. More >
Why the Colts Future is not in Doubt
Dec 2nd
15 comments
With Indianapolis struggling recently, a lot of fans are questioning the team’s future. Many complain about recent drafts and believe the young talent will be incapable of replacing the perennial Pro Bowl and future Hall of Fame talent that is starting to age.
This negative perspective is premature. As long as Peyton Manning is healthy and playing at a very high level in the NFL, the Colts future is safe. With that in mind, it makes sense to focus on the players who represent the team’s future, consider their talent level, and where that talent can take the Colts moving forward. More >
After Review: Chargers 36, Colts 14
Nov 29th
Wow. The San Diego Chargers absolutely dominated the Indianapolis Colts. Home field? Irrelevant. Fast field? Helped the Chargers as much as it did the Colts. Crowd? Had little chance to have an impact due to turnovers creating a big gap on the scoreboard.
Just about everything that could go wrong did in this game. The Colts offensive line was battered and bullied by San Diego. The running game was dead before the first hand-off. The best receivers on the team right now? Blair White and Jacob Tamme.
This Indianapolis team is not the same as it was when the year started, the injuries are hurting badly, and the offensive line is a mess. The only unit who played a pretty good game was the defense, though a lot of people will not be able to believe that if they look at the score. More >

Where does the Colts Offense go from here?
Nov 24th
The Indianapolis Colts are 6-4 with six games remaining; four at home and two on the road, and they are currently in a tie for first in the AFC South. What makes the team’s future uncertain is that through 10 games the Colts offense has been unable to develop an identity — unless that identity is defined by inconsistent production and injuries.
The offense has scored erratically. In the second and fourth quarters of games, the offense has put up 98 and 82 points respectively. In the first and third quarters, they have only managed 40 and 27 points.
Against the Patriots, the Colts offense struggled to find their rhythm. In the first quarter, the offense turned the ball over and punted. In the second they scored two touchdowns. In the third quarter they punted and turned the ball over. Finally, in the fourth, the Colts put together their two best scoring drives — only to turn it over again on the game-tying or winning drive.
In the first half the Colts managed only 9 yards rushing. In the second half they produced 62 yards on the ground. The swings were huge for the offense, going from juggernaut to anemic without warning and seemingly without reason.
Colts Practice Squad Shuffle Continues

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Colts have released wide receiver Ray Small from the practice squad and replaced him with wide receiver Kole Heckendorf. Heckendorf has bounced around the league from Green Bay (originally signed as an undrafted free agent), to Detroit and Seattle, but was most recently cut by the San Diego Chargers. Heckendorf was North Dakota State’s top receiver for four years, but at 6-foot 2-inches tall and only 191 pounds, his frame is alarmingly small to play against NFL defenders.
The Colts also re-signed wide receiver Chris Brooks to the practice squad after he cleared waivers in the move re-sign Chip Vaughn to the active roster.

Colts Cut Kick Returner Kenny Moore, Swap Practice Squad Running Backs
Oct 19th

Rotoworld reports that Kenny Moore, the Colts kick and punt returner who fumbled twice – one of which resulted in a turnover – in Sunday’s contest against the Washington Redskins, has been released. NFL.com indicates that Indianapolis also parted ways with practice squad running back Brandon Minor, and replaced him with running back Josh Vaughan.
Vaughan is a beastly rusher compared to a typical Colts back. When one considers that recent addition Andre Brown is an inch taller and ten pounds heavier than Joseph Addai, the knowledge that Vaughan is eight pounds heavier still (6-feet 232 pounds) puts him into perspective. More >
After Review: Colts v. Broncos (Week 3)
Sep 27th
After the Colts 27-13 victory in Denver, taking a step away from the game and reviewing the tape was a big help. The Colts dominated the scoreboard from the beginning of the game, but it was not until late in the second half, following Austin Collie’s second touchdown reception, that the Colts took control of the game.
A couple of things stood out in the second viewing that were hard to catch the first time through. These things go a long way to explain the statistical anomalies in the game, why the Colts gave up so many yards through the air, and made an offensive line performance that might have seemed really bad, at least a little better.
