The Coltzilla Draft Board
Jan 20th
The Coltzilla Draft Board will will examine NFL prospects at each position, focusing on the team’s greatest needs and best fits. It will list 10 players at each position, which will be updated regularly, in order of assumed need.
Indianapolis has a solid core, so the draft will be more about upgrading and adding depth. The Colts greatest focus this off-season should be the offensive line. A primary attribute for potential Colts linemen is the ability to play at more than one position.
Other key need areas are safety and one-tech defensive tackles (run stoppers).
At each other position, the Colts are probably looking for nothing more than depth, unless key players like Joseph Addai are not signed. With Addai’s future still in question, the secondary need areas will be currently rated in order as: running back, cornerback, linebacker, tight end, wide receiver, and quarterback. Coltzilla will cover the quarterbacks just to analyze what players are coming out, even though it is unlikely that Indianapolis will use a pick for depth behind Peyton Manning.
Check in regularly to examine the draft board. Please include your discussion, suggestions, and indicate what players you think might be a good fit for the 2011 Colts. Coltzilla will use this input to create as many draft profiles as possible leading up to the draft.
Wild Card Game: Colts 7 vs Jets Open Thread #2
Jan 8th
So after 4 straight Punts, and with commentators lauding the Jets defense of the long ball, Manning decided to say, “Please and Thank you,” and gift wrap a 57 yard touchdown to Pierre Garcon. This only took 25 minutes to accomplish, but at least the defense is being stout. Muir has a sack, and Foster, Freeney and Mathis all have multiple hits on Sanchez. Linkenbach is showing himself to be a much better OT. But it seems the Jets wanted to play little brother, and waited until the Colts scored before driving to the endzon…. ZOMG TRYON PICKED OFF THAT PASS!!!!! And just as was typing “67 yards, 2 TOs, no problem,” Manning curls up and decides to just pack it in for the half.
So there you have it boys and girls. 7-0, Colts lead with the Jets getting the ball to start the 2nd half. Things haven’t been amazing, but they could very easily be worse. So without further ado, Welcome to the Halftime and Second Half Open Thread!
Wild Card: Colts vs. Jets Open Thread
Jan 8th
Many didn’t expect us to reach this point and in some cases Colts fans didn’t either. However we are here and like the last four games in a sense have been this is the playoffs and a “must win game”.
My keys to the game:
Colts OL: Like all our games but still is true. We must have consistent line play to help out Manning and allow Addai, Brown and Hart to do a respectable job running the ball. This will limit the success of there pass rush and Blitzes.
Colts WR: Lets have another game where the receivers don’t have a ton of drops.
Colts D: We limit LT and Green and we win this game. Sanchez isn’t going to be able to carry the load by himself. There run game is crucial to them having any success in this game on Offense.
GO COLTS!!!!

This week Coltzilla speaks with Jimmy Morris, lead blogger at Music City Miracles on SBN, to get a Titans perspective on what they expect from this game and what they think their team needs to do this off-season.
CZ: As you go into your last game of the season and one that you know has meaning for the Colts, what do you feel the mindset of the team is right now? Do you think they are going to be playing their hardest or have they already sort of said “forget it”? I know some fans on your site believe the team has given up on the coach.
JM: I don’t see any shot the Titans put up much of a fight in this one. They laid eggs in Houston and against Jacksonville when a win would have put them in first in the division, so I don’t see any scenario where they get motivated to play well with the idea of spoiling someone else’s season even if it is the Colts.

Colts vs. Cowboys: Open Thread
Dec 5th
Keys to winning the game:
*Keep the Cowboys running game in check: Although they are without Barber they still have two capable backs, and the Colts are not exactly known for their run defense.
* Offensive Line: The Colts line must give Manning more time than they did against San Diego or we are in for a very long day.
*Wide Receivers: They need to improve their timing and reduce their drops. Look for Wayne to make up for his issues last week.
