Post-Game Coverage:

The Colts defense stepped up big time, and the return of Colts wide receiver Austin Collie sparked the offense in the first half as the Colts took over possession of first place in the AFC South with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. In pre-game interviews, the Colts listed stopping the run, running to set up the pass, and pressuring Jaguars quarterback David Garrard as keys to beating the Jaguars. How’d they do?

Pre-Game Objectives:

  1. Stop the run (MJD) – The Colts defense surrendered a meager 67 yards and repeatedly stopped Jaguar running back Maurice Jones-drew in key situations including a first-and-goal in the first quarter. Grade: A+
  2. Run to set up the pass – Donald Brown had the best game of his career accumulating 129 yards and averaging 9.2 yards per carry. Grade: A+
  3. Pressure Garrard – Robert Mathis garnered the lone sack of the day, but Jaguars quarterback David Garrard was hit eight times, faced good pressure much of the game, and was contained when he tried to run. Grade: B

Too high? Too low? What do you think?
