In the Training Room: How the Colts’ Injuries Compare to the Packers’
Jan 22nd
Tomorrow, the Green Bay Packers will be in Chicago to take on the Bears in the NFC Championship Game. The media have highlighted the Packers’ long injury list (15 players on IR), and earlier this week Football Outsiders published a games-lost-by-starters statistic showing that the Pack lost a total of 83 starter-games in 2010. The statistic also estimates that the Colts lost 89 starter-games – a significant number to be sure, but not significantly more than the Packers. It’s fair to wonder why the Packers have been able to recover enough from injuries to make it to the NFCCG, while the Colts are watching the rest of the playoffs on TV. This post offers a perspective.
Colts’ GM Bill Polian Talks More Offensive Line Philosophy
Dec 16th
Last week, Bill Polian gave several Colts fans hope that he would consider dipping into free agency to bolster the offensive line in an attempt to improve the running game. This week, while not directly retracting that statement, he reminds the fan base of who the Colts really are… a pass-first team.
We are a team basically built to pass protect. We’re a team that’s going to be three wide receivers most of the time, one back virtually all of the time….
We’re not going to be the Dallas Cowboys, for example, where you have five 350-pound guys up there who are going to double-team and pull and blast away with the power running game.
This suggests that, while Polian may focus on the O-Line during the draft or even in free agency, he will still favor pass-blockers. More >
Are You the Ultimate Displaced Colts Fan?
Dec 3rd

DIRECTV is holding a pretty cool contest we thought Colts fans would be interested in hearing about. It has become clear to us that we have a number of out-of-staters who visit the blog regularly and that among them may be someone dedicated and creative enough to take advantage of this opportunity.
While you should visit the above link to learn all of the details of the Ultimate Displaced Fan contest, the idea is that you put together a video or pictures, or collection of different media to display that you are the ultimate displaced Colts fan. Other fans for the other teams around the league will also be staking their claims — and as Peyton says in the video, who wants another Steelers fan to get free tickets to the Super Bowl?
If you do enter, we would very much appreciate you letting Coltzilla know. We would be happy to put together a story displaying the contents of your submissions. We wish you the best of luck.
After Review: Chargers 36, Colts 14
Nov 29th
Wow. The San Diego Chargers absolutely dominated the Indianapolis Colts. Home field? Irrelevant. Fast field? Helped the Chargers as much as it did the Colts. Crowd? Had little chance to have an impact due to turnovers creating a big gap on the scoreboard.
Just about everything that could go wrong did in this game. The Colts offensive line was battered and bullied by San Diego. The running game was dead before the first hand-off. The best receivers on the team right now? Blair White and Jacob Tamme.
This Indianapolis team is not the same as it was when the year started, the injuries are hurting badly, and the offensive line is a mess. The only unit who played a pretty good game was the defense, though a lot of people will not be able to believe that if they look at the score. More >
Bengals v. Colts, And Things of that Nature (Week 10 Game Preview)
Nov 13th

The Battle for I-74 will take place on Sunday as the Indianapolis Colts (5-3) take on the Cincinnati Bengals (2-6). The Colts will need a win to keep pace in both the tightly packed AFC South standings and the race for the number one seed in the AFC. The team standing in the way of a Colts victory on Sunday will not be an average, ordinary football team — they have a secret. A secret identity, that is.
Not content with only being able to wear tights during the day, the Bengals set out on a mission to find a nighttime gig that afforded them the opportunity to experience their comfort and masculinity 24 hours a day. So, led by the obnoxious diva-turned-crime-fighters duo of Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Terrell Owens, the Bengals entered the world of superheroes. More >

Each week Coltzilla will preview the upcoming game by speaking with fellow bloggers who write about the week’s opponent. This week, the Colts come off of their bye and step into a Monday Night Football game against the AFC South rival Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium. In Week 1 the Texans made a statement by beating the Colts on the scoreboard, and deflating members of the team late in the game. This week is a chance for redemption. Coltzilla speaks with Dustyn Richardson from Houston Sports and More to get a Texans perspective on the primetime rematch. *Coltzilla’s interview with Houston Sports and More
